Abstract
This study identified cluster types based on supervisee attachment strategies and the level of ethical behavior of supervisors as perceived by supervisee, based on which differences in supervisory working alliance were verified. The research data were collected from 276 counselors who received at least three supervisions from a single supervisor within the past year. After dividing supervisee attachment strategies into avoidance and rejection and deriving clusters according to the ethical behavior of supervisors, each strategy was classified into four clusters. Significant differences among clusters were found in levels of supervisory working alliance through multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). ¡°High Avoidance-Moderate Unethical Group¡± had a higher level of supervisory working alliance than ¡°High Avoidance-High Unethical Group.¡± ¡°High Rejection-Low Unethical Group¡± had a higher level of supervisory working alliance than ¡°High Rejection-High Unethical Group.¡± Such outcomes suggests that even when supervisees have a high avoidance or rejection attachment, the supervisory working alliance can be sufficiently maintained as long as the perceived level of supervisors¡¯ unethical behavior is low.
